Liposuction:
This procedure involves the removal of fat cells from different areas of the body, which may include the chin, neck, abdomen, flanks, hips, thighs, buttocks, upper arms, and knees. Liposuction (Lipo) removes fat cells not cellulite (the “cottage cheese” bumps). Lipo may be used for select candidates for breast reduction or male breast enlargement (gynecomastia). SPS uses the tumescent method, which is the preferred option with little blood loss, less bruising, and less discomfort.
Not all of the fat is removed, so some of the fat could return to that area or another area. Not everyone is a candidate for liposuction. Discuss with your SPS surgeon which procedure may benefit you. Liposuction is not a substitute for exercising or a cure for overeating.
Liposuction may last 1-3 hours depending on how many areas are being treated.
